Economic Impact Study

Most health care facilities have a tremendous impact on the economy, as well as the health of the resident community. An economic impact study measures the economic impact of a healthcare facility on its community’s employment, household earnings, and business sales.

Three elements of a healthcare facility’s economic impact exist.
They are:

Direct Impact – The healthcare facility’s employees, equipment and supplies, and outside services.

Indirect Impact – The employees, equipment and supplies, and outside services purchased by local businesses in order to produce the equipment, supplies and outside services purchased by the healthcare facility, as well as other business services of the healthcare facility.

Induced Impact – The household spending of the healthcare facility’s and supplier’s employees.
